This week marks one MONTH since Vice President Kamala Harris was tapped by President Joe Biden to lead the nation’s immigration response. Her leadership reveals “virtually” nothing has been done to help stop the thousands of illegal immigrants entering the nation’s southern border each day.
Despite a variety of virtual events, the vice president still has no plans to visit the nation’s southern border. Several GOP leaders have challenged Harris to experience a firsthand look at the damage taking place due to the Biden administration’s change in immigration policies from the previous administration.
In March, more than 171,000 illegal immigrants entered the nation. The U.S. is on track to see more than one million illegal immigrants make America their new home by the end of 2021.
Harris has not even held a press conference related to immigration in her 30 days of immigration leadership. She has, however, found time to visit sunny California, make some publicity stops in North Carolina, Illinois and Connecticut, and take a trip to New Hampshire to complete this week.
Rumors claim the VP’s visit to the state whose motto is “Live free or die” may lay the early groundwork for a 2024 presidential campaign. Harris’ official plans are to tout the Biden administration’s $2 trillion infrastructure plan, but unofficially to start garnering support for her run at the White House.
As Harris travels near our nation’s northern border and ignores the crisis on our southern one, her lack of action reveals she knows her administration’s open border policies aren’t working. Democrats can refuse to call it a crisis and give it whatever label they want, but it doesn’t change the growing refugee situation taking place within our own country.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) noted, “The top Democrat in charge of the border situation has spent a month avoiding the southern border.” If ignoring problems is how Harris intends to lead the nation, we’re in trouble.
Whether the economy, jobs or immigration, Harris has a habit of silence on negative topics she doesn’t want to be associated with. Instead, she highlights positive actions, such as the alleged benefits of Biden’s infrastructure plan that will really only be about eight percent infrastructure and 92 percent political paybacks.
Harris can claim she’s busy, but there’s not much in the nation that’s more important than a few thousand new people illegally joining the country every day. Don’t forget that even though most people crossing into America will be peaceful, it only takes a few cartel members or a handful of infiltrators from the Middle East to cause a lot of damage.
These aren’t issues you can fix over a Zoom video conference. Harris can talk with the presidents of Guatemala or El Salvador all she wants, but until she addresses the American people with real answers, she is AWOL on the job.
Remember when we had a president who would stand up to liberal media and say what was really happening on a daily basis? Me too. Kind of miss that. Only about three years and 265 days to go and maybe we can see a new face in the White House who will put Americans first.
