Hillary and the Black Panthers? What We Learn from her Team Up With Beyoncé

If you call yourself Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, or Ted Cruz, life is pretty hectic right about now. In the thick of primary season, the presidential contenders are running on little sleep as they jet set from city to city in hopes of scoring delegates. So, it’s sufficient to say that US Weekly’s recent headline raised a few eyebrows.

“Beyoncé Gets a Surprise Visit From Hillary Clinton While Filming New Music Video.” Wait. Did they say—surprise—visit?

There’s no doubt that Clinton and her peers are on highly regimented schedules as they traverse the campaign trail. Why in the world would Hillary casually stop by the shoot of a music video? And since when is she rubbing elbows with thirty-something R&B stars?

In reality, the Democratic frontrunner’s meeting with the wife of Jay-Z was as carefully choreographed as Bey’s dance moves. As part of a whirlwind stop in Los Angeles to beef up her fundraising, Clinton did what she knows best—pander to disconnected celebrities and other Hollywood leftist groupies.

Hillary’s people have yet to officially confirm that she will appear in the music video. Still, the politician’s “unexpected” yet conveniently publicized on-set appearance speaks volumes. A brief look back at Beyoncé’s controversy-packed year, including her startling salute to the Black Panthers at Super Bowl 50, may yield some explanation. Many insightful commentators also note that this isn’t the first meeting between the two power females.

Americans remember when Beyoncé landed the coveted half-time performance gig at Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. So, when she appeared again alongside Coldplay just three years later, many fans were confused and disappointed, citing the annual show’s lack of variety. Things got even worse when the vocal celeb turned the light-hearted event into a full-blown political statement.

Donning Black Panther inspired garb, Beyoncé led a group of African-American women who proceeded to gesture the crowd with the classic Panther salute before assembling into an X formation. A clear reference to Malcolm X, the performance managed to turn the once family-friendly Super Bowl into an offensive race-fueled commentary.

In videos posted to the “Black Lives Matter” group’s social media pages, the backup dancers can be seen holding up a sign saying “Justice 4 Mario Woods.” For those who forget, Woods was shot and killed after refusing to drop a knife during an encounter with San Francisco police.

Now, flash back to December of 2015. Clinton was on the campaign trail, speaking before a group of excited citizens in Iowa. When asked about the singer, she responded, “I want to be as good a president as Beyoncé is a performer.” Hillary’s odd girl-crush on the mega star had already been years in the making.

It’s widely known that Beyoncé and her rapper husband are huge supporters of Obama, and as early as 2014, they were gearing up to make their mark on the Clinton cause. Photos of the songstress show her at Hillary fundraisers back in early 2015, and Internet memes have touted the “Hillary/Beyoncé 2016” logo for years.

But here’s where Clinton’s supposed friendship with Mrs. Carter derails. NPR and other sources did a little digging to show just how calculated Hillary’s team has become.

To start, “Black Lives Matter” and other Twitter handles went crazy following Clinton’s down-to-earth admission of how much she admires the vocalist. In that moment, many pointed out that Hillary’s attempt to be perceived as “hip” backfired. She incorrectly pronounces her name “Bayoncé.”

Entertainment Weekly, certainly not the modicum of fair and balanced reporting, discussed Hillary’s “favorite” female artists in honor of women’s history month in March. Having curated a list of songs from Beyoncé, Missy Elliot, Lady Gaga, Madonna, and more, Clinton showed how in-touch and relevant she was despite her AARP status. But again, the attempt was a massive fail.

Hillary’s “hand-picked” selection of music was actually compiled by a consulting firm out of Oregon. The Daily Caller reveals that the Clinton campaign paid them $9,000. When will these politicians learn that you can’t buy cool?

But what lingers now in the wake of Hillary’s meeting with Beyoncé is the ultimate question. Does the frontrunner of the Democratic Party endorse the Black Panthers, their despicable behavior, and by proxy, the violent, racist ideals of the “Black Lives Matter” movement?

When she associates with an artist like Beyoncé, who blatantly blends her nasty politics with “entertainment,” the answer is a definitive yes. If Clinton wants to draw the young, black female vote, perhaps she comes out on top. But she better remember—it’s at the expensive of the majority percentage of voters who are disturbed by Hillary’s secret rendezvous with the singer.
