President Joe Biden has told 18 U.S. military academy board members appointed by former President Donald Trump to resign immediately or be fired.
“The pressure to resign comes months after the boards in question were suspended by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin shortly after he took office in early February. Austin ordered a review of all the Defense Department’s advisory boards after his predecessor, Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller, frenetically removed and replaced dozens of members in the time between Trump’s election loss and Biden’s inauguration,” Military.com reported.
“The replacements were often Trump loyalists, such as senior adviser [Kellyanne] Conway; fundraiser and White House adviser Matt Schlapp; and impeachment attorney Pam Bondi,” it added.
“We have got some breaking news tonight. All Trump appointees, including myself, have been kicked off the boards of the United States Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and West Point in an unprecedented move by the Biden administration,” Spicer said on his Newsmax program.
“I am announcing tonight I will not resign, and I will be joining a lawsuit to fight this,” he added.
The White House claimed the requests were not political. However, the claim is difficult to support, given that the list of board members were appointed by Trump and remain loyal supporters.
What other reason could Biden give? Not inclusive enough? Woke enough? Believe in traditional genders of male and female? Too patriotic?
It seems clear the power grab is designed to remove any and all people who were friendly to former President Trump from the Armed Forces, but the effort may backfire. Biden ran on a campaign platform of promising to reach across the aisle, to be a bi-partisan President. This move, on the heels of his Afghanistan failure, seems petty and may well further erode voters trust in Joe Biden.
With Biden’s latest failures with the military in Afghanistan, you’d think he’s want any help he could get. Instead, he is trying to remove leaders who would seek any accountability for his botched exit of the nation now controlled by the Taliban. This move may very well be an attempt to save himself when an investigation by Congress finally gets underway looking at Biden’s handling of the troop withdrawal from Afghanistan.
We’ve already heard reports of the military checking on the background of its members for so-called extremism, including support for Trump. Now Biden wants to specifically move Trump supporters, a completely partisan move to further erode patriotism in the military.
But patriots in the military don’t need to retire or be fired. They need to hang in there. It may sound like an eternity, but we’re almost down to three years before a new president could be in office. The rate it’s going, it’s not going to be Biden, so there’s a good chance the situation will soon change again.
Whether Trump runs and wins or someone else leads the way is yet to be seen. Regardless, our military needs its best people to outlast the leftist agenda and stand strong against efforts to remove those who love America the most.
